I apologize in advance for posting in "clothing" because really, what I do is not SEW.  I just applique.  And I usually applique kids clothes, but this time its not kids, so I'm posting here.

my dad's birthday is at the end of the month.  I made him a Lady Gouldian Finch shirt - its his favorite bird (he always wanted a pair when we had plainer finches growing up) but its really bright and I was afraid that the end result would look cartoony.  And IT DOES.  But maybe thats ok.  I am loving the new machine and feeling confident enough that I'm ready to do something other than felt and straight stitch - it turns like a dream compared to my old machine and it totally powers through layers and layers of felt like a dream.

I'm considering adding some cherry blossoms to the wood but time is short.

That's beautiful! Can I ask what kind of machine you have? Mine would never behave itself for something as intricate as that!

Who would have thought - I have a blog!

Thank you!

I just got myself a very nice used machine (a Huaqvarna Platinum 750) which is overkill for what I do, but I'll admit that it powers through four layers of felt like a dream (quilting machine) and it turns so much better than my previous machine, that I'm very pleased with it.  Prior to that I had a brother that my husband got at costco - it worked well, but clunked when I had three layers of felt and knotted up alot.

personally i wouldn't add cherry blossoms. it's so simple and perfect as it is Cheesy (but if you do i'm sure that you're amazing skillllz would do it justice)

That's a beautiful bird, and great detailing.  I like that the stitches are in a feather design on the body.
