Hi, I am coming up with the idea of a jewelry sale (as an alternative to the traditional bake sale) for my school's chocolate club. Does anybody have any ideas for jewelry that kinda relates to chocolate? Is it possible to make stud earrings out of m&ms?  Cheesy

yeah, you'll have to coat them in a varnish of some sort to seal them against the elements. shoot, you seal anything and it can last forever.
well, maybe not animals.
okay.
live animals.

It sounds really fun- you could do all sorts of stuff- gummi bears... gummi worms! whee!

You could also embed them in resin so they'd look like they are in ice.

Could you do that with food? Like say a real strawberry in resin to resemble a strawberry in an icecube, or would that wreck the strawberry?

those are all great ideas. speaking of strawberries, it'd be cool to make one of those really expensive strawberry necklaces a lot of people have, but with real strawberries. a lot cheaper and a lot cooler than the real thing  Tongue

if i wanted to use varnish on something softer, like a hershey kiss, would it hold up/make it stronger?? do you think it would work if i put a jump right through the top of the kiss and then varnish it? I'm afraid the tip of the kiss will fall off and itll be ruined  Sad  Cheesy

I'm not sure how chocolate would hold up with polyurethane on it. It might be fine in winter, but then in summer (once they are exposed to heat) they become internally soft, melt, and could make a mess.

Great candies to seal and use are those tiny conversation hearts from valentines day, or gummi items hold up well. Items that can melt might not be the right choice.

Or you could even make fake chocolate earrings and jewelry using polymer clay. They can look quite realistic and people go nuts for them.

A strawberry might not work either. Maybe if it were a freeze dried strawberry it could work, but I think if you took a fresh real strawberry and encased it in resin (or coated it in polyurethane) it would internally rot. You could make a mold of a real strawberry and use resin or polymer clay to make fake ones. I just think a fresh real strawberry might not hold up well.
