Bookstorebabe: yours reminds me a lot of Joan Miro's paintings, especially his Carnival of Harlequin. very cool.

Wow, bookstorebabe, you sent awesome stuff! I especially love the Muse - she's so funky. Too bad you didn't get feedback from your partner, that's always the fun part - to see whether people appreciate what you made  Huh
Great work!

Thanks for the compliments! She's not that tall. Her body was a small plastic soft drink bottle.I scrunched some tinfoil around it to shape it, tailing off to make her flowing gown. The head was sewed, stuffed, and tied onto the neck of the bottle. I may have used a pencil inside to help hold the head erect.I had a hard piece of styrofoam to stuff her head.I went to fill the bottle to give it some weight, only had enough dried beans for about 1/3 full,so I stuffed it full of compressed paper to finish filling it.It didn't have enough weight to stand very well, which is one reason it's hot glued to a base. Many layers of colored tissue paper and plain white glue-the colors ran and blended,my hands got real messy,it was fun! Did a few layers, let it dry overnight, repeat, ect. You can't see it,but I wrapped some plain white thread  tightly around the tissue, then daubed on a little gold paint, then another layer of glue. The base is a round tin,the kind that comes full of cookies, painted with blue acrylic paint. Her eyes and mouth are odd earrings. The body became hard and shiny. It's funny,I made a different project with black tissue and glue, and it was hard and dull. I sprayed some clear sealer on when it was done. This was made almost entirely from my stash-I think I spent 99 cents for the blue paint.
I still have to make my DD the one I promised her! She wants hers to have outstretched arms, and a record bowl base,so it can hold bracelets.
Edud, there are so many ways you could make one of these-I couldn't make 2 the same if I tried! If you make one,I hope you post it.It's nice to make something totally impractical occasionaly. Wink

Yay! I just got my angel package from DesignVigilante, and she spoiled me! She crocheted everything in the same yummy blended yellows and white.
A book tote, complete with the Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym,by Edgar Allan Poe.I love Poe,and it's a book of his I've never read.
A sunflower yo yo bookmark
A mug cozy
A cold drink cozy
a pencil case, which I really needed.I had admired one that someone else here made for the swap,so she made me one.Complete with pencils and pen
She took pictures,so I'll let her post them instead of putting stuff on the scanner immediately. It's all so sunny and pretty-it really makes me smile.
Thanks again for being my angel-it's been fun talking to you,and so great of you to make lovely things for me.

Ok so I got to angel for bookstorebabe. And I'll admit, my package wasn't so much "Poetry Inspired" as it was inspired by bookstorebabe. I had tons of fun getting to know her and so pretty much my package was based on things I learned about her and I thought she might like. She mentioned that she once visited California (which is where I'm from) and that she really liked it there. So my overall theme was "It's Always Sunny in California". I picked this yellow-white cotton yarn that I really liked and made everything out of it. I figured that way she'll always carry around a little bit of California. Anyway, enough of my rambling! Here are the pictures:

Pencil case with two pencils and a pen to get her started.

Coffee mug cozy modeled by my boyfriend's highschool mug. It also has two buttons so it can adjust a little bit. (It might not always be super cold in California, but we sure do love our coffee!)

Cold drink cozy modeled by the root beer i was drinking at the time for those warmer days when she's sitting around reading.

A book tote that fits most paperbacks since she works at a bookstore and when she's not actually working, she's sitting around reading lol (Note: It can fit two books comfortably, and if they are smaller sized paperbacks, I'd say about three could fit.)

And finally a sunflower looking yoyo bookmark and Edgar Allan Poe's only novel ever. I'm a huge EAP fan and so is she. And that's probably the most "poetry inspired" thing in the package lol.

I'm so glad you liked your package, bookstorebabe. I had tons of fun making it for you and getting to know you. I think I had more fun angeling than I did on some of the other swaps I participated in. Enjoy!

Ooo...I love how the variegation in the yarn worked on the purse.  Very pretty! Great stuff. Thanks again for angeling DesignVigilante.

FYI all...at this point the swap is basically closed (there's still a few folks who can post pictures if they want...hint, hint  Grin) but other than that we are all done and the original thread has been moved to the archives accordingly. Thanks for a great swap people!  Kiss
