I wanted to try my hand at painting on clothing.  These denim outfits were so boring so I decided to paint them up into wearable works of art.  They even held up through my 'wash' test, although I used cold water and hung to dry.

If anyone wants to try it I mixed my acrylic paints with a fabric medium about 1/2 to 1/2.

I love the insects.  I may need to try that.  Did you have to heat set it?

The first outfit I tried peeled a lot after laundering, but I had put it in the dryer...big mistake I think.

These outfits I heat set with my iron, then washed them in a cold wash and hung to dry.
I also mixed fabric medium with my acrylic paints.

Awww, those are really cute!  They remind me of a denim jacket I am working on right now for a friend's little girl.  I'll post it here when I am done!

Thanks everyone.  INGY I'd love to see your jacket.  I am working on an adult jacket right now.  Here is the latest little jumper I finished today.

simplytreasured, your work is great!  I just love it!  So here are some pics of the jacket in progress.  It's not all painted, some has been sewed on (yeah, that lasted about 10 minutes *heh*), some is glued on fabric, yo-yo, and a button.  I have a long way to go,  way way way long way to go lol.  I plan on making some 3-d stuffies to sew on, ie a lady bug, birds.  I want to do leaves/vines in both fabric and paints on both sleeves.  I too have used fabric paint additive to my regular paints.  I am thinking this will really be like an art piece that my friend can hang on her wall until she is big enough to wear it.

and because I think she's like a lil hula monkey!

Ingy your jacket is so colorful and fun.  What a great piece of 'wearable art'.  I love it.
