wow-- i never even heard of this before. i'm  just trying to guess what 50,000 words looks like--about how many typewritten pages??
ANSWERING MYSELF--& for others who want to know...
You may assume 250 words per page when using 12-point Courier, double-spaced. 50,000 words (or about 200 pages)
I am going to think about this--did you do NaNoWriMo ever or will this be your first?

UPDATE: Still thinking on this whole mindblowing idea. Am  accumulating info, thinking, cooking.

Oh it's such a great experience. I would recommend that you try. Even if you don't finish, it's a wonderful thing to try your hand at. This November will be my third year doing it- I've finished both times prior.

50,000 words is a lot, but it's not impossible. It translates to about 1667 words per day, which is like 2 or 3 pages of prose, depending (That's of the doc I have open, 9 point Verdana). So it's doable.

This will be my third year doing NaNo as well. i love, love, love it. What a great idea for a swap! I promised myself I'd only do one swap at a time, but I don't think I can pass this one up...

I am sorely, sorely tempted. This will be my first year trying out NaNoWriMo and I think a swap will be just the thing to get me motivated.

I've attempted NaNoWriMo twice, failed both. Last year I did better than the year before, but this year I intend to finish.

It's hard work to come up with a plot and characters and all that stuff with so little time, in addition to normal life.

This  will be my third year of NaNoWriMo.  I love it!  I get so focused on the story and I really do some serious writing.  If only I could be as disciplined the rest of the year.
