One of my favorite things about swaps is they manage to get me off my bum and actually try new things!  I've been wanting to stencil for a VERY long time, and it took a swap to actually get me to do it.  One of the consequences is I make things I'm really proud of but never get to keep.  At least I still have the stencil this time!

I used regular acrylic paint with a fabric paint medium, and cut my stencil out of a couple giant pieces of tag board.  I had two layers, and after a lot of trial and error, I succeeded!

If it lives in the water or flies in the air, I'm in love with it. In New Zealand I saw a flying fish and almost wet myself.

It actually didn't take that long to try.  I did the tentacles on the back first, and they were dry enough in about 10 minutes for me to start doing the front.  The front took a little longer to dry since there was so much more paint on it, but it was dry enough in 24 hours for me to pack it up and ship it to my partner.

awesome, i'm still kinda new to stenciling,
so bigger stencils like this with a lot of area to be painted still make me nervous because i think they'll take too long to dry (i get pretty impatient sometimes, haha)

Paint dries a lot faster than you'd think.

I have enough experience with it drying when I DIDN'T want it to to know this.  Cheesy
