ok, officially my first craftster craft...Smiley

i took an aol cd, which i received in the mail today. then i crackled it in my microwave for 3 seconds (what fun!).  then, i hot glued a lavendar scented tealight onto the center (over the hole).  it looks great!

you could also paint (or cut) flower petals around the outside, so the candle is like the stamen.

what do you think?? i would post a pic except it's pretty self-explanatory.

I'm working on a project that needs all the old CDS in the world! I'm lining the back of my bedroom door with old CDS to make a mirror. So far, I'm about 1/4 of the way through. I asked my friends and family for donations, and I've got an amazing turn out.

One time (a few years ago now) I took a few old cd's and cut the into square like pieces etc and took a styrofoam ball and pieced them all together on it to create a little mini disco ball.

I can't remember how I attatched the string. I gave it away actually. I wish I hadn't because it was very cool.

If you could figure out a sturdy way to attatch something you could hang it from your rearview mirror or something. Or would that shine light in your eyes and distract the driving? lol

But that's what I did with my old cds. Smiley

i did that to a white lava lamp
years ago and they melted off  in a swirly pattern that i think looks nifty

Here's my mirror so far... I'm using regular scotch tape to secure the old CDs. I only need about 3 small pieces per CD.

When you look into it, your image becomes distorted.. kind of like a fun-house mirror! It's way cool.

Wow, I can't believe I was always so scared to do the microwave thing, it's the coolest. The smell's kinda gnarly, but then again, I did about 50 of them. They're mildly addicting.

Anyway, I took a couple of pictures because I had no idea what these would look like, and I think I should share the knowledge.

This one's the coolest, a blue-surfaced Sony CD-R.

This is the second stage of coolness, a regular AOL CD with blue and white paint on the back.

This was a weakling, an AOL CD with black paint on one side. There are cracks, you just can't really seem them as they're the same color as the CD.

I'm currently trying to figure out what to do with a bunch of old CD's too! I used a couple to make coasters, its really easy - just find some nice pictures or some cute paper and mod podge it on to the cd ( i used sparkle podge) then use a layer of sealant and you have a cute coaster!
I'm also thinking about making a mobile but i'm not sure how to do it!
Good luck Smiley
