My sister recently got published and as a book launch party, we did a Vampire High School Dance. The book is a vampire jr./sr. high type deal.
We rented a patio room and transformed it with red and black decorations. Here's some of the pics:
The room beforehand: very blah, kinda icky.

We rented chair linens and scarves and I got to tie them a LOT of them!

The Prize Table - Heather (my sis) got people to donate things like shirts, hats, wine, jewelry...all vampire themed:

The prize table with prizes:

The wine bottles were jazzed up with a bit of red or black ribbon and a button from her book:

Shot of room mostly done - my daughter getting last minute directions:

All around the room was a big icky beam, my BIL covered it with black and white tulle layered with red christmas lights - the effect was fantastic in the end. To cover a doorway we put up a "blood" curtain.

The cake was picked up for only $60 - the book cover on the cake and it was a "bloody" cake - red velvet!

Some of our vampy guests (all guests were requested to dress either as vamps or at least in red and black):

The author herself at the book table, we bought candies with her logo and book title on them - 2000 of them for only $200! Plus a bowl of candy kisses - cuz she wanted them.

A semi-decent shot of the tables: centerpieces were black lacy spiderwebs with black glasses/red candles and a black and white pic of a famous vampire - everyone from her creation to Count Chocula! (my daughter and nephew)

I know that was a lot, but that's some basics. I have loads more and will try to come back and post more - the party was much better than we expected!
