Hi all.  I've been lurking around craftster for a while now but this is my first post.  It's actually a project I did a little while ago but I consider it public worthy.  Smiley

While living in nyc I've become a huge fan of the dumpster dive - almost everything in my living room is free in some capacity!  This chair was being thrown away by a neighbor and I though the shape was quite classic and timeless, even if the reddish tone and the pale snake-skin imprinted fabric wasn't my (or anybody's) particular taste.

The original + cat

Starting the sanding.. by hand... for an eternity...

All sanded

After stain + shine

Close up of stain

Finally with new fabric around the seat!

That turned out really well!  I admire your willingness to hand sand that whole thing.  All those curves and crevices!  Oy.  You prove that it can be worth it.

Your vision carried the chair from 'eek' to 'classique.'

The cats know where my Sharpie went but they ain't tellin'.

See now, here is the question... where is the original cat?

Why did someone throw this away? Great refinish job. It's gorgeous.
