Every time I think of making something hollow, I always want to use the lost wax technique.  I think that this is just because I like to play with melted wax.

Polymer Clay Challenge #2 has a winner, RobbinZombie!  her entry was The Kraken  She will receive a prize from Persephone Rose!

I'm such a clay novice and I hate to ask a stupid question, but how did you get the stone texture? Did you get clay that already had the black flecks or did you add little pieces of something to the gray clay? I'm thinking about making these for friends. I have a lot of white clay and paint, but I like the look of yours.

Are you still considering lighting them up inside? Please post if you do.   Smiley

Hehe, these are so cute, and so appropriate for a keyring--since the hearthstone takes you home, it's a good idea to keep it close to your keys! Nothing like hearthing home to find you've left your keys in Ironforge  Tongue

so i just have to tell you i LOVED this idea, especially the idea of putting a LED light in the middle. So i needed an idea of something to make my boyfriend (who used to play WoW all the time) so i tried it with an LED. i went and bought some little LED lights and i had an old necklace that lit up so i took the yellow light off and added a new green one (the blue ones were like 4$) and i put that in a hollow "hearthstone" i had made with silver polymer clay. i was happy with it, but the thing was fragile and broke when he got home @__@
it's still possible though!!!
it was funny when i gave it to him, he was like o_O...whats this?
he never actually looked at the hearthstone in the game xD

Yeah this is freaking genius.  My boyfriend turned me into a WoW nerd and I need to make this ASAP.  Great job!

I'd like to know your 'recipe' for such a good stone effect. I've seen grated 'fired' clay recommended but I tried it and it didn't look right. Your black flecks look like poppy seeds.
