I'm bound and determined to stir some interest in the mosaics part of the glass section...if it kills me.   Tongue

My Father does some woodworking to help with his hand dexterousness (he has Parkinson's). He was asked to make a cart for our Shul to use for Havdalah, and of course he said yes. Then he asked if I would mosaic the top for him when he finished, and of course being my Father's daughter, I said yes. ~; )

The cart measures 36 x 23 across the top, and is about 3 foot high. This is not a good picture of the cart, I will get more later, but here is the one I did get:

Nothing too flashy, but wanted a design that would still be pretty to look at. Forgive all the prints on the mirror. Blue, white, black and mirror are the colors I'm using:

Got the center of the design in, and glued like I wanted. The rest will be just filling in a free form fashion with the other glass.

Without Flash:

The cart is so lovely I am so nervous I will screw up that I am being extra careful on the placement of the pieces.

As always comments, suggestions and questions are welcome! (and encouraged!)  Smiley

Oh, I love it! I think it is going to look amazing. That is so neat that you and your father will colaborate on something like that.
My dad asked me to paint a milk can for him to give his wife for their anniversary and I'm not really a painter anymore (14 years not a painter) but it's my dad.... I'm agonizing and scrutinizing everything, so I know where you are coming from.
You are off to an amazing start! I can't wait to see when you get further!

Your work is always sooo awesome.  I really want to start working with mosaics, but I just don't have the skills (or time).  It is pretty dumb to not take it up though!!  My husband works for a flooring company and have access to LOADS of broken tiles.

Oh well....maybe one day  Grin

That looks amazing!! I love your Star of David! Beatiful! My mom works as the bookkeeper for a Jewish temple and has been for 20 years. I am very familiar with this star! ^_- I think I know more about Judaism than I do about my own religion (Actuallty, I'm positive I do...).

It would also look really pretty with light blue glass surrounding the White star. But anything would look great around it! I dont think I could do this if my life depended on it...

Great job! Post the finished peice!!!

I have an old kitchen table that I want to mosaic, but apart from the table, I haven't gotten around to assembling my set of supplies.  Your table looks like it's going to be awesome!

It's beautiful.  Very precise!  I cannot wait to see it with the rest of the colours in.

WOW! Thank you all for your comments! Smiley

Ezri_B: Isn't is funny how we can't say no, lol.

smiles317: You should try it at least once, especially since you have access to broken tiles! *drool*

Not just broken tiles....I mean.....giant LOADS of broken tiles.  Normally they just give them to crafters who come in and ask for them.

Maybe once we get a house I will explore mosaics Smiley  I really have no more room in our apartment.
