9/6/07 - Tidied up the rules about sending people to your blog

Howdy all. We've attempted to tidy up the rules about people posting projects here that direct people to their blog for more information. We promise we're not trying to be meanypants! The rules we come up with are based on the overwhelming feedback we get from you members!

Promoting your informational blog or website

If you are posting a project on Craftster that is also on your blog and you want to direct people to your blog to read more about it, please read the following:

1. Projects posted on Craftster must include pictures and at least some amount of project details posted right here on Craftster. They should not just consist solely of a message directing people to your website for more information. So please be sure to include some detail about your project here on Craftster.

2. Also, you must link to the exact URL of the blog entry in question and not to the main page of the blog.

The reasons for these rules are:

(A) We get complaints when there are too many posts where you have to leave Craftster to read about the project. This is especially the case when you have to dig around the blog because a link to the exact entry was not provided.

(B) We don't want a situation where there are lots posts lingering around where all the information is in an external blog and that blog has disappeared.

For example, posts like this are not allowed:

Hey! I have a tutorial on my blog about dying with grape juice! Check it out:
http://www.someblog.com/someblogentry.html

(no pictures at all)

Hello. Look what I made.

http://www.someblog.com/someblogentry.html

(no information or story at all)

So please include as much information as you can. We realize that not everyone has time write about something in detail on their blog AND on Craftster but you do need to provide at least some information if you want to share it on Craftster. (Also, copy and paste works great in this situation!)

If a moderator stumbles across a post that breaks this rule and you get contacted about it, please don't fret. We're just trying to make Craftster run more smoothly and no ill-will is intended at all. Here's what will happen if a moderator takes action on a post like this:

1. it will be moved by a moderator into a folder called "LIMBO"
2. you will be sent a message asking you to fix the issues in the message and you should go to the LIMBO folder and click on your message and then click the Modify button to edit it (note that you can only see your own messages in the LIMBO folder.
3. a moderator will move it back after you've edited your message and fixed the problems
4. if a week has passed and it hasn't been fixed, it will be deleted
