This is my first dessert post - I don't decorate cakes very often but I thought I'd share one I made this summer...

For his birthday, my boyfriend - a professional computer geek - deserved an appropriately geeky cake.

This is kind of a cartoon representation of a motherboard. I wandered the candy aisles of the grocery store and CVS picking up different items to use. I got some wafer cookies for the RAM slots, an After 5 mint for the Intel chip... Rolos turned out to be especially useful.

I think I succeeded because when my BF saw the cake, he knew immediately what it was- he even identified what type of motherboard it was modeled after.

Thanks for looking!
