I'd really like to knit a project with yarn that I'll purchase from someone who has yielded it from their own sheep, dyed, and spun it themselves.  Are there such people?  If so, how do I find them?  What search terms do I use?

Check out www.etsy.com

Not everyone uses fleece from their own sheep but there are some on there.  I know that londonwul has somethings of the nature you are looking for.

These guys raise their own sheep.  You can read the full story on their "about us" page.

So... has anyone else ever accidentally spent an hour+ online looking at the price of buying and caring for their own sheep... for the sole purpose of spinning it's wool?  Oh God, I'm going cracked.  It all seems so easy until I remeber that I live in an apartment...

actually, I bought a great book called "Living With Sheep". It's very interesting and informative.

Someday I'll have sheep....

maybe...

Yeay, I'm not alone.  I'm not even that greedy about this, I only want ONE... just ONE little sheepy.  Embarrassed

I figure you need at least 2.... one would get lonely.

Then I need a donkey to help me move hay...

and and austrailian shepherd to help with my flock....

and of course an 10 bedroom victorian farmhouse with a tower, wrap-around porch, and 2 barns so I can turn one into my knitting store......

it's really not that much to ask for, is it?

LOL...My mom and I keep talking about opening a LYS (we only have large chain ones by us).  The other day I asked her if we could get sheep so that we could raise our own wool.  She looked at me like I was crazy.  Then I mentioned getting an alpaca.  She told me I was crazy.  So now I'm teasing her that I'm going to get an angora bunny instead.
