I've been working on this for at least a year because I'm too afraid to commit to any recipe box designs.  Roll Eyes

I used 5x7" scrapbook pages called Once Upon A Time (by DCWV). I tried to paint the box to resemble them and this is how it turned out. (I'm going to add ribbons and embellishments but it took me a year to paint it so who knows when I'll get to that!) Oh, and I've already Mod Podge'd it because I didn't want the glitter getting in my food.  Wink

Some of my recipes. The lighter colored ones have the recipes printed on them but the darker ones I printed on white paper and stuck that on the pretty page. (Most have photos but not all of them.)

Before (if you're curious)

Thanks for looking!!!

I really like your recipe box. Is the original box metal? I have been wondering what type of paint I could use on metal.

I bought that same exact box to keep my recipes in. I couldn't decide on how to decorate it. I ended up putting Get Fuzzy comics all over it but now I'm wanting to do something else. I like your recipe box. Did you have trouble putting Modge Podge on it? I noticed that when I used Modge Podge it peeled off the metal easily.  Undecided Maybe I'm just unlucky.

It took me forever to decide how to decorate it so I can relate! The box is metal, which bows a little by the clasp-- that irritates me-- but I haven't had any problems with the Mod Podge. I painted a thin coat of lavender acrylic paint then "sponged" (actually dabbed with papertowel) three different layers of personally mixed purples. I was expecting the glitter to come off clumpy with the Mod Podge but that didn't even happen. I just brushed a thin coat on top of all that but I didn't have any problems. I use a small brush (1/2")-- maybe that has something to do with it?
