This took me way longer than it really should have but it's finally done! It took me forever because i'm terrible at figuring out the assembly order. It's not actually quite done yet, i still need to sew the opening closed and put on a closure. I think i'm just going to do velcro for this one. next one i make will have a magnetic closure. I'd love to hear any comments/critique. ( Don't hold back on the critiques please, i need the help!) Even though it's no where near perfect I'm still quite proud of it.

Oh and please ignore the wrinkles. I was really excited to post it!

cute!

i like the pen/pencil holder as well as the pockets for add'l 'stuff'.

i want to make one now!  only difference i would do (personal preference) is to make a wider pen holder - it looks like you've got 2 tiny 1/8" elastic and for me, that would be hard to manipulate a pen into both loops.

i'm old, though.  LOL

Thanks! The pencil loops were supposed to be wider but i didn't take into account that the tab needed more of a margin(i totally forget the right word now) than the rest of the cover. I only use one of the loops for my pencil, the other was there for whatever else, lipgloss, stitchmarkers, etc.

That turned out supercute! I don't have any suggestions 'cause I like it just like it is. The fabric is awesome!

I think it's really cute and is a really good idea w/the pockets and such on the inside.   None of my books are hardcover, unfortunately, or I'd make these for my books.  I'm thinking about a laptop sleeve with pockets and such, so thanks for the inspiration!

I love it! I've been obsessed with making a notebook or journal cover and yesterday I tried a pattern-less one - I just made a mini quilt the same width but 5" longer than a laid-open composition book from CVS and then hand sewed the flapped over edge pieces. Its easy to take the book in and out but the composition book has a lot of printing on the inside covers so the fact that the flap covers just 2-3" of the inside cover looks weird. Next time I might try making the "quilt" longer so the flaps come in further, and maybe try adding a pencil holder like your elastic loops. Very neat!!
