Vintage shop and Goodwill = Love

I made these four things today. The Got Milk tee was just super oversized and I would never wear it. I turned it into a tank top. The top says "Wecome to the Gun Show" and I just made that so it fit. The dress I go up north at a thirft shop. It was this hideous dress that i made into a mexican inspired top. I'm going to use the bottom to make a skirt. And lastly I had this ... thing. It was a baby thing for adults, but I adored the back. Cut it up, hemmed it, and voila!

that long hippie dress thing is a great find.  wonderful details on it--you did a great job making it wearable.  and...  well, im not really sure what the thing-before-tank was, exactly, but it looks good after you fixed it. 

good job on the tees too.   thrift stores are full of all sorts of unexpected treasures.  one of my favorite things is to go and look for items that have some certain appeal or cool details, and ask "what could i do with this?"  often, it can turn into a really great piece.

don't you hate that!?!  i'm usually over in crochet and toys forums, every now and then i pop over here and i really like your tank. I am horrible at sewing but i've been thinking about reconning a tank from old stuff i have.  I have to say i am very envious!!  I hope that my attempt at sewing turns out as good as yours!!    but yeah, i really feel disappointed when i work hard on a project and get no replies at all - i am aware that i am not 'the master of all things crocheted', but one teeny tiney reply is not too much to ask!!!  Go here to see how unpopular i was on some of my projects:

Thanks to all. This is my first time just kinda winging it, without really having a designated plan. I've made a blazer, skirt, pants, and designed my own shirt in 5th grade... but than I lost my sewing want, I guess. I think I could marry a thirft shop or goodwill.

You did a good job! :-) I've just "discovered" reconning stuff...and I've been having SOO much fun at thrift stores..my husband asks me all the time "how did you spend $30, the stuffs like $2 a piece!!"

I just  and shrug.

I went to the thrift store and spent seriously 2 hours there trying on stuff. I saw that and tried it on for fun, just for a laugh, and I unbuttoned it, and really liked it so, I went, what the hey, I can do something with this.
