It looks like vinyl, styrene is pretty brittle and so it wouldn't make sense to make the hinge part out of styrene because it would just snap right off.

I skimmed the other responses but didn't read them thouroughly so if this doesn't make sense or repeats someone else, just ignore me.  But, if you want to use polymer and you can't bake the actual case, maybe you could make a whole new case out of polymer?  My old bcp had a very simple case and you could probably make one fairly easily.

Maybe you could make it similar to a wallet and it could have a velcro closure.  Kind of like a tab.  I know I'm not explaining it very well.  Sorry.
