pin cushions from china ware

I made these pin cushions from old cups, sugar bowls and creamers I found at a thrift shop. I made them with scraps from my sewing and batting scraps. Each one has a tiny heart of steel wool to sharpen and clean the pins as the cushions are used. I plan to give them as Christmas gifts to my sewing friends.

these are so cute!  what a great idea!  i did something similar with one of those easter eggs that you fill with candy because it was shaped like a chick!  how did you get them to stay in the cups, is it just because they're so stuffed?  great idea with the steel wool, i kept looking for a heart shape, duh me! haha

Fantabulous idea--although if it were me, I could see myself reaching for the pincushion instead of my cup of coffee .  . . but still a great idea!

oh my goodness!!!  these are the sweetest!!  ive never seen this before, but it really combines two of the cutest things i like!!  ill totally be making one (or two) -if you dont mind that is.  i hate seeing things and then going "oh i want to make one"  even though its someones idea.  i just feel like a thief, ya know?
