Modeled by the ever helpful but unfortunately not baby-sized helper monkey.

So I got the crazy idea to make a baby bonnet for Evie that looked like Princess Leia.  As I lie awake at night wishing for sleep these are the strange things that go through my head.  A few days later and we have her Princess Leia Baby Bonnet.

Pattern: My Own, I’ll try to write it out if anyone is interested.

Yarn: Vanna’s Choice in chocolate.  Since it was a trial I don’t mind using leftover acrylic yarn.

Needles: Size 6 straights and size 4 DPNs for the buns.

Tied with a ribbon but I think I prefer an i-cord.

Closeup on the blog, as always if anyone cares.

That is SO cute! What an interesting idea! I don't know who I'd make it for ... no babies anywhere that I know of in our family ... but, it sure would be a conversation piece when you take the baby (would have to be a girl!) out for a walk!

Hmmmm, wonder if they make that yarn in blonde hair color?

Viki: Luckily I am having a girl!  I don't think I'd recommend making this in Vanna's Choice, maybe something softer for lil baby head, but there is a mustard that might work for blonde.

littlepunkkitty:  thanks, it's super simple, I'll try to write it down.

MADIMO: thanks!  And I'll tell my husband you like his monkey (wow that sounds dirty).  Helper monkey is my only real model till my baby girl gets here.  Should be soon, thank goodness!

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me.
