I'm hesitant to post these as I don't have any of the true "action shots" back from the wedding photog yet, but I'm also anxious, so here goes... Grin  I'll add better action shots later, if we get any.

I wanted non-floral centerpieces and something with red.  Our wedding colors were red/black/silver, we were married outdoors in a rose garden and our reception was in a metro park lodge, so something red and nature-inspired seemed perfect.  My inspiration was 100% http://www.rachaelraymag.com/content/33107/

Here are some pictures of one of them on our mock table setup (I laid out a tablecloth, dishes, silverware and centerpiece on our living room floor to see if they would look all right for the big day - yes, I am that crazy - shush).

Supplies for the easiest centerpieces ever:
Branches (Don't run out & hurt live trees.  Take branches from fallen trees.)
Spraypaint (dark red in my case)
Birdies
E6000 glue

Gather supplies:

Collect branches:

I peeled most of the bark off before I painted mine.  I don't think it was really necessary, but it made me happy.  Spray, flip, repeat.

Hot glue decorations, if desired:
(my hubby picked out the dragonfly - how could I say no?...hehe):

The birdies are all from Michael's.  The cardinals come in packs of 8, I think.  The colorful lil' guys are sold individually.

Ha ha about the lawn!  I sprayed one in the front yard and Shocked, so I did the rest in the side yard by the neighbor's house.  They couldn't help but ask what on earth I was doing.

ha ha. I can imagine that after you picked up the twigs, it would look like a "branch crime scene". At least your neighbors were nice about it. I can't imagine the conversation with mine if I hadn't used a drop cloth. At least I was spraying French flower buckets in a green shade, right? ha.

I did about 10 mock ups of my tables. I had to do that because I needed them perfect, so I could tell my friends how to set them up. That was one thing I didn't think about, having our seating outside - all that stuff needed to be done while we were getting married! I couldn't set it up the night before, it was outside. That all had to be pawned off on willing friends. So, I don't think you're even remotely crazy setting it up on your floor to check out the layout! You'd be crazy if you didn't!

BTW, I love that your husband picked out the dragonfly. That is cute!

Exactly, Mar!  I couldn't be there to help set up, either.  Retroeva and our friend did almost all of our setup.  Ours wasn't outside, but we didn't have access to the building until we were walking down the aisle, which obviously clashed.  Everyone should hire retroeva (she'll kill me for saying that! Cheesy).  She was my sanity.

I absolutely love this idea! What a fantastic and whimsical touch! And, to be honest, the dragonfly is my favorite Wink  I'd have to sneak a frog in there somewhere, too...

I love this. Since I've been married 21 years I doubt if I'll need to use it for a wedding(  Roll Eyes Huh ), but I think they would look very cool on a shelf.

Fantastic!  You picked colors that a lesser crafter may have had difficulty keeping elegant and classy (I've the black/white/red bride's maid's dress to prove it)!  You've inspired me to do something similar with the lovely branches that fall off my curly willow tree that I can't stand to put in the yard debris recycling.  With Halloween right around the corner, mine might be bats, though! Wink

wow this is beautiful!  We just changed our color scheme from red/black to ice blue/white...big trasition I know lol  but I think this might look good with the branches white, maybe with sparkly snowflakes on them (we're doing it in the winter now, hence the color change)

Thanks, you two! Smiley Smiley

Ooohh... white branches would look nice for a winter wedding!  I guess it depends what color table linens you're using?  If you're linens are white, you might want to go with ice blue branches & sparkly white flakes.
