"button, button...who's got the button?!"

i needed a brown bag for winter, so i made this one. it's out of a book called Quilted Bags & Purses mary jo hiney. i bought it at joann fabrics. anyway, i added a few things, like cording a magnetic snap for the outer pocket on the back. also, the patter said to use only snap fronts on the two front pockets and then use velcro for closure, but i decided to use actual snaps. the wallet is the same wallet i made for the pink and brown hobo set i posted. the only difference is that i used snaps instead of velcro.

here is the purse and wallet together:

front of bag:

the two snap pockets are mounted onto an actual slip-in pocket (you can tell because of the cording running straight across the front of the purse). i divided this slip-in pocket into two parts with a seam so it would flop open.

back of bag:

for this slip in pocket, i added the magnetic snap.

the inside has no pockets because you put the material and batting together and quilt it. i satin stitched the seams on the inside to make them look more finished and to keep them from fraying. the inside of the purse and both slip in pockets are lined with the striped fabric.

and now for the wallet:

you are looking at a section of six credit card pockets. behind those is a pocket for money. i am holding up the zipper pocket. you can see the snap pocket lying down on the right.

you are looking at another set of six credit card pockets that also has a pocket for bills behind it. i am holding up the snap pocket and now the zippered pocket is lying down on the left.

love the wallet...it's so spacious!

questions, comments, constructive criticism, please.
thanks for looking!

i bought the fabric at a quilt shop, it's by michael miller. i must confess...i'm becoming a fabric snob. Embarrassed the difference in quality between chain stores and the name brands offered in quilt shops is light years!! i still buy fabric from joann's, but i am sort of picky about it.
