Ok I've been to Savannah once but we were only there for 24 hours.  We did your basic tourist crap.  This time I want to pretend I'm a local...kinda.  I need your suggestions for places to eat, shop and have fun.  I got inspired by the latest issue of Adorn so I've got all the places listed there on my guide.  Any other suggestions are sincerely needed.
I looked at the Savannah topic and...I'm kinda sad to find people think it's a boring town.  Maybe it's because I've only been there for a short amount of time but it sure looks bright and shiny to me.

When will you be here?  Or is it too late?

Oh no I'm thinking either spring or fall.  I'll actually probably base it around the craft fair =)

Every town is boring to some people.   Smiley

I love Savannah, and DF and I plan on living here for a long time (we've discussed retirement here, but that's a looooong way off).

I'll do a little research about when the craft fair is, and get back with you.   Smiley

I'm curious as to which craft fair you're referring to. I am a co-organizer of the Mutation Craft Fair, and we're having our next event on November 16-18 this year.

But if you miss the craft fair, it's no biggie! There are plenty crafty, not so touristy things to do in Sav. I just posted a few stores on another thread, so I'll just give you the link and you can read thru them: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=189547.0

If you can still get your hands on the Fall issue of Adorn, there is a nifty Travel Guide on awesome things to do in Savannah, including vintage clothing shopping and yummylicious cupcakes. Cheesy

I am sure this thread is dead, but I am going to be coming down to Savannah this June and was looking for not so touristy stuff to do.... Anyone wanna clue me in on what the Adorn article was about?

Or maybe old theaters that have neat shows going on? Neat flea markets? Or antique shops that aren't 14,000 dollars to come away with anything cool?

Any help would be appreciated! I have your fair city is gorgeous and want to find the neat little stuff that people really love, not the crap that the visitor's bureau promotes  Lips sealed

Thanks!

Broughton Street!

It has handmade shops along with high end ones (Marc Jacobs).

City Market is where almost all of the galleries are. (Check out AT Hun, a friend of mine owns it.)

And if you're there April 9-21 go to Desotorow Gallery, my stuff will be there =P
