And I'm just getting started . . .

Oooh, I'm so excited about this bag!

I've been wanting to make a wasp bag (http://machenmachen.wordpress.com/patterns/) for weeks, but figured I should get in a bit of practice first. Well, finally I got to the point where I just couldn't wait anymore, and this is what I came up with:

And the inside:

Obviously, I used contrasting fabric at the top, and I changed the pocket a bit, and I didn't do the button or a snap (well, I tried a sew-in snap, but we weren't getting along--it was late and I was tired!--so I decided I'd wait on that one), but I love the way it turned out. And I'm actually amazed that it turned out so well, especially since it was my first time doing pleats AND darts, not to mention the curvey stitching on the handle.

I'm still having problems with my linings being a little too bulky to fit smoothly inside the bag though. I read somewhere here that I should make them just a tad smaller than the shell, but I either make them so much smaller the pieces don't fit together right, or not smalle enough to make any difference. I guess I'll just have to keep practicing.

But I still love this bag! Now I have to figure out how to make a matching wallet . . .

It's lovely--I really like the flowered fabric, its colors and the little pattern. Very nice!

Great job on this bag! This has been one of those bags that I look at and think "Oh, I don't know if I wanna" but now I think I need to try it.
