Replicate a really cool bib

Hey crafters,

I know there are lots of good bib ideas on Craftster, but I haven't found the info I need. I'm looking to replicate this bib, or something like it: http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=3200-1/476.0.5228.0.0.0.0
Cute, but not $7+ cute!

You can see that it's not backed or "middled" with waterproof fabric, but is in fact ALL waterproof fabric, easy to just wipe down. Some crafters talk about washable vinyl, but is that expensive? Gwensmom said that you can use a tablecloth cut up, but it melts and is hard to sew.

Any thoughts? Has anyone tried this?

First thought was: why not using a shower curtain-nylon-material. It's light and easy cleanable. Otherwise it doesn't always come in nice designs.
The other idea is to use a cotton fabric with a beautiful design and add a transparent plastic layer (maybe shower curtain) over it.

Transparent shower curtains or other shower curtains are not this expensive. IKEA had one two years ago.

I wash my viny; shower curtains inthe washer and even throw them in the dryer (on low) so I bet that would work for a bib

i'd suggest diaper fabric  - specifically PUL or DIY PUL.

Fabrite in New Jersey is the company that does it.  you can join coops pretty easily to do your own fabric relatively inexpensively.

another idea - check out one stop diaper shop.  sorry i don't know link exactly but i bet if you typed that into google it'd pop right up - it does for me at any rate.

the reason i'm suggesting diaper fabric is because it's intended to be laundered at high heats.  it will survive whatever you do to it and will look nice to boot.
