Mosaic GOG WIP

[HSG]

This is a GOG (glass on glass) mosaic Ive been working on, and I need to get some opinions before I proceed to complete it.

First the design is inspired by Piet Mondrian's style of art. It is on an old window that measures 2 foot x 3 foot. All pieces used are stained glass in red, green, gold, yellow, clear, white and all trimmed in black opal.

Here are the questions:

• Paint frame black?
• Grout with clear silicone resin sealant?
• Grout with black instead of clear?

I'd use either eggshell white for the frame and same for grouting or black frame, black grout.
I think clear silicone wouldn't let the colors shine as much as black will, so I guess I'd go with black rather than anything else. Whatever you do, please do show the results!

I would definitely go with a black frame, but I would go for a clear grout, so that the thick black lines can really stand out as borders, if you see what I mean.

It actually reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright.

I second the clear grout for the same reasons.

I agree, black frame but I can't decide on the grout...but i'm leaning towards black.  Can't wait to see it finished!!

I agree with black frame.  I think black grout would be best because it would emphasize the stained glass look (like leading).

I think the black looks much better! Still would like input on the grout question.

HSG, your mosaics just ASTOUND me.    You are such a talented artist.  The composition here is marvelous!

I would say, black frame AND black grout.  I just absolutely love black grout, and I know it would do something amazing to that yellow glass! 

That's my .02 cents worth!

PS:  I *always* struggle on grout color.  It's SUCH a big commitment after all that mosaic work.

I am not sure about black grout, I think your black outlines would get lost. I think clear grout would look good. Nice job on it! It looks great! where are you going to put it??
