A few weeks ago i decided i wanted to learn lace knitting, and my older brothers wife has a birthday a week and a half after mine, and she is totally the lace shawl type, so i decided to knit her one.  She's from Bombay, and is kinda "oldschool" compared to the rest of the family.  But i enjoyed knitting this and really hope she likes it, I'll probably be sending it out in a week or so. I also made a matching mesh cap, but its nothing fancy.

appearantly the photo thingy doesnt work with flickr...which i ever so brilliantly didnt know when i set up the account...so go look at pictues! no you can see them!

thank you!

Gorgeous!  I'm trying to figure out what yarn I want to use for this pattern right now... it's just so pretty!

You really did a fantastic job... welcome to the world of lace!

The shawl looks lovely! Do you use the yarn suggested or something else?

You can use flickr here but flickr doesn't support BBC code.  So you need to do some stuff to make it work.

There is a tut how to do it here somewhere I'll see if I can find it.

Here's the info link to use flickr:

sammimag: thanks for the link, i got it now! and no, the yarn called for are all elann yarns, and i had the teal here, and it was just sitting there, so i did it. i ((shame on me)) rarely check gauge, but i like how it came out regardless of it being the size it should have been or not.

pink.octo--thanks for the welcome, ive wanted to do lace forever, and its just clicking now, i love it.  and i dont space out and mess up with stupid stuff, cause you have to pay attention.

everyone else, thanks for the compliments, ill let you all know her reaction to it.

the pattern is in the free patterns section of elann.com

its written in charts and in words, so for those of us who have yet to master charts, its a perfect pattern.  i had to rip it out like, four times, but once i got the full repeat down, it went really fast, only took about a week and a half to knit.

NOW im looking at this awesome butterfly one for my grandma ((she has a bit of an obsession, but i think its a perfect one for her)) ultimately i want to make it... http://www.needlebeetle.com/lace/swallow.htm isnt it purrrrrrrrty?
