I was inspired first by this post:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=184817.0
And another pic I saw in BeadedImagery's etsy shop.  Not sure what your craftsters name is, but whoever you are please stand up!

Here is what I came up with:

GOLD closeup

Pastel close up, crystals was added on this one.
These are all done on a 16 mm wood beads.

16 mm wood beads
Small amount of size 10 cotton thread (I call it doily thread)
Size 9 steel crochet hook
large holed needle for tucking in tails
stitch marker

Chain 7, sl st in 1st chain to form ring.
(Working in rounds)
1) 2 sc in each chain around.  Place marker on last sc.  (14 sc)
2) Working in back loops only from now on, 2 sc in each sc around. Move stitch marker to last stitch of each round. (28 sc)
3-5) Sc around (28 sc)  Add your bead after row 5 making sure to line up the holes.
6) Sc next 2 sc together around (14 sc)
7) Sc next 2 sc together around till desired sized hole achieved.  Sl st to join, Finish off.  I use my tapestry needle to bury the tails.

These are done on plastic white oval pony beads.  The doily thread has a sparkly opal looking thread in it.

Maybe you can see it better in this pic.

Oval pony beads 14 x 10 mm
Small amount of doily thread sz 10
Size 9 crochet steel hook
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker

Chain 7, sl st in first chain to form ring.
Working in back loops throughout,
1) 2 sc in 6 chains around (13 sc)  Place stitch marker at the end stitch of each row, changing as you go.
2-4) Sc around (13 sc)
Add your bead lining up your holes.
5)Sc next 2 sc together around, sl st.  Finish off.  Tuck in tails with tapestry needle.

Chunkalicious beads.  25 mm wood beads.

The largest bead I have ever strung!!  The bottom one ecru/gold thread was used.

Sz 10 doily thread
Size 9 steel crochet hook
25 mm wood beads
tapestry needle
stitch marker

Ch 7, sl st to first chain to form ring.
Work in back loops only throughout.
1) 2 sc in each chain around (14 sc)  place stitch marker in end stitch each round
2) 2 sc, sc around (21 sc)
3) Sc, 2 sc around (31 sc)
4-9) sc around (31 sc)  Add bead lining up holes.
10) Sc, sc next 2 together around (21 sc)
11) sc, sc next 2 together around (14 sc)
12) Sc next 2 together around (7 sc or untill hole is as small as other side hole)  Sl st, finish off.  Tuck in tails.

Awesome necklaces! Thanks for the tutorial, I've got tons of size 10 thread (for tatting and macrame), I'm glad to have another use for it.

Geez go figure...I just sold off alot of my size 10 crochet thread in a garage sale last year, having no need of it for Barbie Doll clothes anymore and then you come out with this brilliant idea!  LOLOL.  Awesome idea, love the tutes!  Thanks so much!  The size 10 thread I have isn't that shiny...did you use crochet cotton or something else?  Anyways GREAT work....bravo! Thanks Tinsel and decarillion for your kind compliments.

The size 10 thread I have isn't that shiny...did you use crochet cotton or something else?

I used crochet cotton thread for all of these.  The white and gold crochet cotton has a metalic thread in them.  Aunt Lydia's is the brand (Coats, the company).

Geez go figure...I just sold off alot of my size 10 crochet thread in a garage sale last year, having no need of it for Barbie Doll clothes anymore and then you come out with this brilliant idea!

Darn, I hate it when that happens!!  My mother gave me a ton of these threads for not enough to finish something big.  PERFECT for beads THANKS MOM!!
