I checked out some books from the library, and have most of the applicable tools.  I do need to pick up some more clay (as my children apparently got into the clay I already had), and figure out what I'm making.  I typically need a project to actually learn how to do something.  Smiley

Make sure the drain cleaner is 100% sodium hydroxide! I hope you can track your lye down soon, I might be able to stir up some sources for ya if Lowe's doesn't pan out. Feel better, I'm coming down with a sore throat, icky!

My local everything store (I call it the grocery store, but 2/3 of the store is other stuff) had lye last time I was looking for it...  um.... 12ish years ago...  obviously, things may have changed since then.  Roll Eyes   If anyone's interested, my husband's family used to make soft pretzels, and dip them for 2 seconds in a mixture of lye, water, and onion peels (yeah, I know).  I've discovered since then that it's at least as effective to use baking soda water (though I've run into people who refuse to believe me that major pretzel companies use baking soda water over lye water).

My usual solution for sore throats is orange juice and bagels (the bagels  have just enough texture to scrape out the gunk in my throat without being uncomfortable. I presume the orange juice is related to the vitamin C, but I don't know for sure).  Smiley

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled programming.  Grin

We've got a few people with stuff going on, so I'm pushing sign-ups back one week, so our new date (the absolute last day) to send out is 10/15. We shouldn't have any late senders with an extra week!
