Details of swap: Is there a new craft that you are itching to try? Have you seen something fabulous on Craftster and would love to make something similar? Do you have a kit or supplies to make something but have never quite gotten started? Will you never get around to it without a little extra motivation (for instance, the motivation of having to send it out on a certain date?)

This is designed to be a low pressure swap so you can try a new craft. Your partner will also be trying the same craft you are, and the two of you (or group if we end up having a ring) will have a “mentor,” a person who has experience in that particular craft and is there to give you tips, support, and encouragement. There is no worry that you will be sending to someone who is already an expert, since you will be learning together.

I am strongly encouraging you to send AT LEAST a snail mail card or a small crafted item to your mentor as a thank you, although this won’t be something I keep track of. This mentor gift could be the new craft or something else you make or simply a card to show your appreciation.

Clarification: You may sign up to craft, to mentor, or both. If you are signing up to mentor only, you will not be sending anything out, but please still fill out the form so I have your info so your "students" (mentees?) will be able to send you a thank you.

Sign-ups are going for 2 weeks, so there is lots of time! If your partner has received in your other swap, most organizers are really helpful about getting you feedback if you need it to get into another swap, just pm them!

This is SUCH  a cool idea!  And my huge project will either sink bad or be nearly done by the end of sign ups, which means I'll definitely be ready for a low pressure craft.     I'm kind of expecting, though, that it might be a bit hard to group people.  Could you maybe start a list of crafts with mentors to update? 

I'm presuming we'd be able to mentor one craft, and do a new craft as well?

Yep, that's the idea, to actually swap a craft that you are trying out, and to mentor something that you have experience at (although you don't have to mentor if you don't want to). Go ahead and list crafts that you would be willing/able to mentor.  I could mentor anything bath/body related as well as crochet.  I would be looking for a mentor for probably beaded jewelry, embroidery/cross stitch, or needle felting.
