My daughter turned 4, so we are redecorating from her toddler room to a new 'big girl' room.  Here is one of the completed projects.

I bought an adorable white marble lamp 2nd hand, but haven't wanted to permanently alter it.  I had the random idea to cover it with ribbon fringe! I started collecting misc. bright colors and patterns of ribbon around town, and when I had a big ol' bag, I went for it!

The strips of ribbon are sewn with a zig zag stitch to thin elastic, which slides over the top of the lamp.  There are 2 different tiers of it.  The one on top has a 'finished' edge, by folding the turquoise ribbon in half over the top of the elastic and stitching around again!  Perfect!

She loves it, and it's quite festive, while not permanently altered the lamp or shade.

LOTS more projects to come in the next month...Curtains and pillows are done too....

But the best part is the quilt....here are squares in progress:

just wait for it! Cheesy

I love that lampshade fix!  I've been wondering how to do a draped effect on a lampshade without permanently messing up the shade, and the ribbon-covered elastic is just brilliant.  Smiley

Love the fact that you're using bright colors. My son is turning 4 soon and I'm doing bright colors for his room as well. I especially like the quilt you have started. I have never quilted before but I'd really like to give it a try and especially use bright colors like the ones you've picked out. Great inspiration!
