Craft Challenge #21 - Total Board Game Revamp - Due Oct 1 - Oct 5

10/15/07 - The winner has been chosen! CONGRATS to KittyCreates for her amazing entry entitled:  Yarn + Hole Puncher + Uno cards = Crochet Uno dress!

Click below to see it:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=199369.0

And read the blog wrap-up of this challenge here:
http://craftster.org/blog/?p=140

10/6/07 - Time to vote!

Got some old board games lying around that you just don't play? Have a thrift store nearby with some kooky old games no one wanted? C'mon...You know you've been eyeing that game of Probe and waiting for an excuse to buy it! Cheesy

Your challenge is to remake a board game into something new using as many of the parts of the game as you possibly can -- every part of the game if possible! Your resulting project should have an overall theme that you work all the components of the game into.

You can remake it into something totally different and unexpected or perhaps even make it into a new game altogether. Whatever you're inspired to do with the board game you choose! (You can use other craft supplies and components in your project but the results should really focus on the board game elements.)

Official Rules:

  • Post your craft during the period of Oct 1 - Oct 5 2007. No sooner. No later. On Oct 1 there will be a special folder created for entries.
  • Voting will happen from Oct 6 - Oct 12 2007.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project although there can be multiple parts to you project.

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original and has never been posted on Craftster or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, then just give credit to that project.

Prizes:

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get...

(1) their project in the Featured Projects area
(2) their project in the Craftster Blog

And this prize...

Any Verilux Full Spectrum Lamp of the winner's choosing contributed by new Craftster sponsor Verilux.

Verilux full spectrum craft lamps set the standard for natural, "daylight" lighting more than 50 years ago. All Verilux craft lights use full spectrum light to enhance the clarity and contrast of reading materials, projects, craft work and task work. Full spectrum light improves vision while reducing eyestrain and fatigue.

I happen to own the Portable Lamp (in pink no less!) and I love it! It gives off such bright, clear light. It really makes a huge difference for me when I'm crafting. My husband has a couple of the other models and uses them when he does illustrations and paintings and since getting the lamps, he's been pumping out artwork like nothing I've ever seen.

2 questions:
1. Does this craft still have to be a workable game int he end or just anything using all of the game parts?
2. Is the lamp you're giving away pink? I just ask because I have a certain affinity...ok obsession with pink Smiley

Hi jbender85! I just updated the description to say you can do whatever want with the game. Make it into something totally different or revamp it totally into a new game.

And, for the lamp, you get to pick whatever one you want! Smiley

ok, this has nothing to do with the challenge, but I had to tell somebody because I think it's just too funny that a friend of mine just gave me the game in the picture "Probe" a couple of weeks ago. I haven't even opened the box yet, but what are the odds? lol.
