Hey everyone! It looks like this week is off to a great start. I love Fiber Friday. Smiley

Lufahsman - that's gorgeous, it looks so soft! It's so dramatic, I love the blue-y spots.

Star - congrats on your alpaca score, that's awesome. And it looks so yummy!

Bixby - your yarns are always beautiful - The colors of this one are so fun!

Snowberrylime - Banana daiquiri is really lovely, and so fluffy and bouncy.

Lubee - I love the crazy stuff you put in your yarns - mmm, cookies.

Gomerriffic - that's an awesome story, welcome her to Fiber Fridays for us!

Alrighty, here's my one yarn I've been working on for two weeks. It's the first time I've tried to spin thinner on my wheel (even though I've had it since Christmas, I've mostly spun thicker, uneven-y yarns for fun) because I decided to try to spin sock yarn. I followed some advice I found online and periodically checked my wpi while spinning the singles and again while plying. Many many firsts for me. But it was worth it because it came out nearly exactly as I'd hoped.

Big Yellow Taxi, superwash merino from Crown Mountain Farms - about 100g, 500m, 15wpi.

I'm so pleased with it, I can't wait to knit some yummy handspun socks!

Hey all...Love what everyone has done. This thread is always so inspiring! I want to spin even more feverishly. Anyways I have three skeins this week.

Strawberry Fields Forever - 100% meraino and hand dyed by me with kool aid. This was my first attempt at a larger dye job. I think it turned out pretty good.

This is the begining of a skein which is unnamed. It's romey. This was my first attempt at spinning on a wheel. I am now in love with spinning on a wheel and am saving every penny to by one of my own.

This is Fluffy Fat Tabby Cat. It's BFL that I dyed with kool aid. I think I might ply it with some white cotton or something like that.

Oh, more great yarns! 100Bean, that yarn is amazing, and 500m out of 100g is pretty impressive!
Thanks for the comments, faerie I am not sure yet what will happen with 'old penny', I haven't dared knitting with it as of yet and there are plenty more projects in line first, lol.

Lufahsman- I love the black and hand-dyed color combo.  Very striking.
Star217- The navajo plied sock yarn looks great, and I am jealous of your alpaca find.
bixby2 - your sock yarn is also very pretty, bright and cheerful.
Snowberrylime - your yarns are all lovely, but I especially like "Blue Lagoon"
100Bean- Love the "Big Yellow Taxi" I had thought of buying some of that colorway, but wasn't sure I would like how it spun up.  Looks great, though.

I actually have yarn to share this week as well, though I haven't been doing much spinning.  I finally gave in and bought some bamboo fiber, since I always drool whenever someone posts bamboo yarn.

My single ended up being very overspun to the point of being unpleasant to work with, so I plied it with some other thread to loosen it up and got this:

However, I ran out of the thread I was plying with it.  It was only then that I discovered that by reskeining the single about 4 times, I was able to work out most of the kinky spots and end up with something that actually had a little drape to it.  Sadly there is only a tiny mini-skein of the single left at this point.

Snowberrylime - Thanks! I sure hope I've calculated the yardage (is meterage a word?) correctly! I'm always worried about that and finding out I made a mistake in the middle of a project. Smiley

Inle_rah - Thanks to you as well! I did a little test swatch when I was spinning samples of the wool and I was surprised at how much I liked it - it does cool yellow-gray-black stripeys. I'm glad because I bought a bunch of stuff all at once from CMF (to make the most of shipping to Europe) before I realized I had no idea what I'd ever make out of flaming yellow and black yarn. Smiley Anyway, your bamboo is incredible - I have some in my stash but I'm still too scared of it. Any plans for the yarn(s)?

i actually have something to contribute! i made this a while ago...it's pretty awful, and only amounted to a few yards, but it was my first attempt spinning (both the spindle and batt came from a swap).

hmm. still needs some work. i started to get the hang of it towards the end...othertimes i just felt...wrong.  Huh Huh Huh oh well. i'll figure it out. eventually.  Tongue
