Needle Felted Book Cover

I made this to cover a plain 2" binder that holds some of my knitting patterns.  The orange is a very soft mystery wool and theflower is made with buffalo locks.  I love the way this looks on my shelf and plan to make several more!

It's beautiful!  My poor knitting patterns are in a plain 3 ring binder.  I may have to add a cover to my to-do list!

It is beautiful!  The buffalo locks make for a really pretty flower!

Since the orange background represents quite a large area, I'm wondering: did you needle felt it as well, or did you wet felt it?  As for the flaps, are they large enough that the cover can be taken off the binder, or is the cover to remain permanently on the binder?
