Don't show him your stuff-for whatever reason,he's belittling it,and it'll only make you feel bad. I don't think I'd even tell him about your sucesses right now. You could tell him you sold everything you made, and instead of congratulating you,you might hear but how much did you spend in supplies,it was a fluke, ect. If someone's determined to drag you down, they will,no matter how good your news is.
Having confidence is the hardest thing in the world.Change, even good change,is scary. That's why people stay in jobs they hate-fear of what could happen if they tried something different.I've been there. I know I'm more vunerable to other's opinions when I'm stressed out and worried. My first swap here was very scary for me,I had severe nothing I could make is any gooditis, but I was glad I made myself try.Everybody was kind and helpful.I hung out with some good people,we oohed and ahhed over each others stuff,I learned a little more about what I could and couldn't do,and even had fun.I came out of it with a little more confidence and determination.I don't show any crafts to anyone but my husband, daughter, and a couple of friends at work.I know my family would think it childish at best,it wouldn't be seen as "practical".I don't dare imagine what my relatives would say if I mentioned I dream of someday opening an etsy shop,to  if not replace,at least supplement my job. They'd think I was insane-and these are people who love me! So I keep it to the few who would understand.
So-keep your crafting to yourself until you're ready to share-then start slowly-a trusted friend,a post on craftster,ect.-and just a few things at a time.Take a deep breath and remind yourself-"just because this isn't to so and so's tastes, doesn't mean it's no good".
Peruse the business boards here for ideas.
You wear your creations and get compliments? Great! Make up a few cheap business cards. When someone complements your jewelry, smile and say,"thanks! I make these myself" and hand them your business card. You don't have to say anything else, unless they want to ask you questions,it's okay to smile and go on your way.Practice saying that in private.I don't know anything much about computers,so I don't know how easy or cheap it is to have your own website, but others here will. If you decide to etsy, put that on your card. All you have is an email? Then use that.Make up a business name.People will remember something like Timeless Designs,or Jayne's Jewels, easier than Jane Doe Fredrickson.
If someone then express a real interest to contact you,why not sell them the one you're wearing,or have a couple in your purse?
I hope I'm not coming on too strong,I don't want to be preachy. You just struck a chord with me. I am wishing you the best!
