inspired by this beautiful work, I decided to make a tree for my wall.  I used strips of a krogers ad and glued them on a piece of old cardstock.  I then cut out the tree design and glued it on top.  for a free project I kind of like it!  now I just need to find a frame.  Smiley

4"x6" (so it would fit in a standard frame)

the strips were a paper (non-shiny) ad and the cardstock is a very light green mottled cardstock that my mom had sitting around in the basement since I can remember.  Smiley

Very great idea! I hate to ask, but do you care if I borrow the idea? I have a little bit of a leafless tree theme going in my room, and I think this would be really cool in a series of them using the newspaper to get the backgroud colors to be the predominant colors of my room (blue, green, and yellow, respectively)...

Hope you don't mind... I may not use the exact same method, but the newsprint idea I shall have to play with... I love using newspaper in my crafts, since it's free!

That's really great! I'm an art teacher and conservationist and I work for my local Boys and Girls club in rockford il as an arts and crafts teacher among other things. Being nonprofit, we have to reuse a lot so if you have any more ideas like these that kids could do, (ages 6-15) please keep me in mind. Your art went straight to my craft folder! Thanks!  Grin

like I mentioned, I was inspired by a blog post on A Little Hut:

http://alittlehut.blogspot.com/2007/05/recycling.html#links%3Cbr%20/%3E

she has a sort of tutorial up in that post that should help you out if you want to make one.  Smiley

Hi everyone! I'm glad you like the project!

And don't worry it's not stealing. I posted it, so that anyone can make it. That's the whole point!! Grin

I have a series of recycling projects that you can look up using that tag (recycling). I've been trying to post one a week. This week I got too busy and wasn't able to make another one but I'll post another in a few days. Stay tuned!

This is such a neat idea! I'm a science teacher and I love to bring art into my class whenever I can, so I am absolutely making one of these. Thanks for posting the site with the tutorial (and thanks alittlehut for posting the tutorial Wink ).

This reminds me terribly much of the SF MOMA exhibit on paper. This is a quality tree.

that is spectacular. I'm inspired to shred up some of those damn Rolling Stone mags and try it myself. (After I decided to let my subscription run out, they kept sending me zines like 2 months after. I knew they had to be good for something)
