2007 Costume Sewalong (All Costumes)

Ok...I've been up until 2am every night this week and finally on the home stretch...only hemming left to do (I hate hemming!).
I'm going as Bellatrix LeStrange and my hubby is going as Voldemort.
I did a pleather corset using the duct tape method and made all clothing pieces from scratch without a pattern...woot woot.
Dear hubby did the wands and made his own latex prosthetic to get rid of his nose.  And he made Bellatrix jewelry out of sculpy.

I'm planning on taking pics this evening during our final fittings...I'll try to post them tonight.
We have a party tomorrow which is why I'm trying to desparately finish up.  Then I have to START on the kids costumes for halloween!

Anyone else doing Bellatrix or Voldemort?

So, mine is finally done!
I posted some pre-construction pictures earlier but I finally have it all together and I think it looks pretty good.  I had some major problems with the zipper but I kind of figured it out    There are other flaws but I am not too worried about them - it's just a costume!  Here are some pics!

No, but my roommate dressed as bellatrix when we went to see OOTP!


Aaaaand my Cruella costume is done!!! I had to hand-sew the straps (broken sewing machine), which was tedious, but well worth it, since a) they looks great, and b) I don't own a strapless bra, haha.

I spent more than I would have liked (about $50 total) but that includes new shoes, clutch, gloves, cinch belt, cigarette holder, and spray-in hair dye. I'll post some proper pics when I do myself up in hair and makeup (the party is tomorrow!), but for now...

Problem: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH MY HAIR! I have the black/white dye, but it's cheap spray-in stuff that will probably gunk up if I try to leave my hair down. Any ideas?

you can get a black wig and a white wig pinch and sew together then spray it with hair spray to spike it up.  or wear a hat like these.

Noone knew who I was

I saw your first pic (before i read your post) and I knew exactly who you were supposed to be, you did a great job!! (on a side note: I remember getting up extra early to watch Jem each morning i loved that show when i was little! My little sis and I had "dressup" makeup and we would use up ALL the colors pretending to be her!)

OK...here are the first pics...this was just the outfits without makeup and accessories (like wigs and jewelry)  I'm planning on taking pics tomorrow before the party.

And here's my Bellatrix...note the fabric that looks royal blue is really dark navy but the flash made it a much lighter blue.
Here's Bellatrix...excuse the expression on my face...my husband told me to look mean and it just looks silly!
