I made my own bed and headboard...and i am very VERY pleased

background story: i saw this bed that i liked and it was like 1,600 dollars for basically a piece of wood one four legs...so i thought to myself..."hey i can make that for MUCH CHEAPER" so i started planning...THEN i thought to myself...i need a headboard...i should design a cool one. so i did. so without further ado...
behold:
here's a closeup of the bed frame...it really is a peice of wood on four legs (slightly more complicated but we'll leave it at that) so this is really the only pic necessary


here's my amazing headboard that I am so proud of...this was so tedious and a pain in the a$$ but...VERY worth it!


here's a general view...it kinda sucks because my pillows cover up a lot of my head board...i may eventually take it off the bed and attach it to the wall for a floating headboard...

aww! thank you so much! i loved the feeling and the looks on people's faces this weekend when i was moving into my new apt and they asked where i bought my headboard and i was (a little too proudly lol) able to say that i made it

Your headboard is fantastic!  What kind of wood did you use to make it?
MDF?  It looks great!

i don't know what mdf is...lol. i used white pine (i think!) 1 X 2s from home depot

yah i wish i wouldnt have screwed it into the base...but i can just use some wood filler and paint and make it work...we'll see...

I'm moving into a new furnished apartment soon, if the bed doesn't come with a headboard I may be following your example
