Hi!

I rented a table loom from my local weaving guild so I could give this weaving thing a try after being inspired by the work of this artist: http://sweetgeorgia.planetfishdesign.com/

And after doing a sample piece that is quite hideous, I launched into my first project - a scarf.

I did a 3/1 twill with grey warp threads and light pink weft thread which turned out much more subtle than I expected, but not bad.  I also had to learn the floating selvedges trick to get this to work, that wasn't bad.   It ended up 64" (163cm) long which seems just right for me.   Made from some soft but cheap acrylic yarn (I dream of the day I can afford to work with natural fibres!).   Also, you'll see I put some beads on the fringe to add some sparkle...

I love it when you guys post lots of pictures of your weaving projects, so pardon if I overkill here with photos; I'm just so pleased to have finished!

I loved weaving it except that my table loom is ridiculously noisy.  Every time I changed sheds it sounded like I was dumping a cutlery tray onto the floor.  My cats hide under the bed when I weave.  So, I'll continue with weaving one day when I can get my hands on a quieter loom!

yay!!!!! Its so great, and I'm lucky I'll get to see the pinkness in person, because it is really subtle.

puppymomma - I don't have the room either! lol   I keep looking at my dining table and wondering if a floor loom wouldn't be better use of that space.  Wink   It's a sickness really, this crafting bug.

I meant to say this back in august but this scarf is so classy. I could see the Audrey Hepburn wearing it.
