...every girl needs that weekend getaway FABULOUS suitcase.
I found that even though suitcases take a lot of time to fully redo, they are by far one of the most satisfying projects in the end to look at...well for me anyways, lol.

BEFORE
don't have the pic anymore Sad
it was ratty and brownish i believe

AFTER (much hard work, especially sewing those flames freehand)

I absolutely adore the flames in the satin!  did you put some sort of padding behind it (to sort of quilt it) or just sew on the satin?  it looks like you recovered the outside as well - what did you use to cover it?

very very nice job!  Smiley

The Outside:

-taped off any chrome or metal pieces
-spray painted the whole outside with a vinyl spray paint.
-used e6000 to glue on rhinestones

The Inside The Hard Part
-used newspaper to trace the actual shape of the inside of the suitcase.
-sewed the flames into the satin using a flame pattern i randomly drew on another piece of newspaper. (yes i did put batting behind it to make it "quilted')
-i then sewed the black long piece (the sides) to the bottom part
-glued it in using Fabritac glue which is really strong and REALLY smelly
-used decorative ribbon around the top edge to hide my edge

i think that's really about it
you gotta sort of wing it since all the old suitcases are different and all of them have different little clasps and handles in weird spots.

Thanks! You really did a great job.  I've got several of these suitcases lying around and now I have a project for them. Smiley
