On a cute scale of 1-10, that pin is about a 30.  Smiley

Thanks! It does crack me up.

I've made two Jayne hats (by donation) for friends so far. One friend sent me $20, the other sent me $40. The first two looked good, but not rustic enough for me. I just finished the third one, which has earflaps that are a little uneven and an extra long top. What else can I do to rough it up?

Here's the first one. Not nearly as pinkish as it looks.

how did you make those earflaps? i want mine to stand that way, but have no idea how to do it

I went by the pattern posted, then turned them out by hand. They tend to stay that way pretty easily, as long as you let the ends curl out and up a little.

I know it!
I have a Hero of Canton t-shirt a friend made for me and I have just about worn it out.
Winter is here so I will soon be wearing my Jayne hat with pride! I need to knit another as I gave my last one away.

I too went by the "Jayne Hat for Mugua" pattern and the earflaps curl up naturally if you turn them out a little and the tension is nice and tight.

did you two slip the last stitch and knited it in next row, or you simply knitted all stitches? i'm thinking it might curl more without slipping that stitch? i actually have one "alive" jayne hat in front of me (nave no idea who knitted it), that person was slipping last stitch, and edges of earflaps are curling towards inside but not like oposite of the one on that photo (i know this was very poetically said, but i don't speak english Wink ). i really dunno how to explain it better, and don't have camera at the moment, so if someone understood, please answer... Cheesy

Seeing all of those cunning hats got me inspired... I decided to try this in Wool-Ease because I'm cheap and I've liked the yarn in the past, but neither Michael's nor Hobby Lobby had pumpkin or gold.  I haven't checked Joann's yet, but after that I think I'm gonna have to look online- any suggestions for a website for Wool-Ease?  Not that I'm in need of a wool hat this time of year, but I might feel like wearing it in my living room while I watch Firefly/Serenity DVDs Smiley

I just knitted all of the stitches. That means the sides curl in a little, making the tip curl upwards.

I am sorry I didn't originally post here, my only excuse was it was late at night. Undecided   Especially as all of you inspired me to try my hand at it even though I am new to knitting.  Anyway here is my contribution.
