Finished my Jayne Cobb hat just now, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get my brother to pose for a picture wearing it. 

Turned out pretty nice, if I do say so myself. A quick knit, too.

Wash also had some awesome sweaters in the series. Ganseys with some minimal cabling, mostly. Anyone worked out patterns for those?

I'm not ambitious enough to try this, but I know there's a thread on the bigdamnknitters livejournal that's been trying to work it out, and they've got probably the best handle on how it's constructed, that I've read so far.

My roommate received the Firefly DVD set for Christmas, so most of my knitting is done watching this show. I might be tempted to knit one of these hats! hehe.

Well, I seem to have improved on my knitting.  I've knitted three complete Jayne hats now, the first rushed one with all the dropped stitches, a second one for my niece for Christmas because she decided our Jayne hat was her "lucky" hat when we were playing shutboard with her (she's 7...sadly, hers isn't a true Jayne hat because she wanted hers in red, white, and blue), in which I only dropped one stitch that I had to go back and fix, and now the double-strand knit Jayne hat, as modeled by my stuffed Peep, shamelessly named Captain Mal (bad pun...marshMALlow.. .):



I didn't drop a single stitch this time.    I did, however, find out that I probably shouldn't pull so tightly when I'm knitting with double thickness, as the hat turned out a wee bit smaller.  Learn something new everytime, I guess.

I had the same problem when I knitted mine. I'm a tight knitter too.

But they stretch pretty good... I like Captain Mal!

You're lucky! I tried to get MY brother to pose with my finished Jayne hat (he's got the Jayne-style goatee, it woulda been shiny!) but he refused!!! 

Something about not wanting his face plastered all over the cortex for the feds to find....
