It never occured to me to try it with straight needles!  Undecided So instead i learned to knit in the round... which has come in handy.

I must say, it looks great! Lucky swapper!  Smiley

Still minus pom-pom, 'cause I haven't gotten that far.  Finished the gold and the earflaps last night, did the orange the night before.  made with wool/acrylic blend to avoid felting accidents, size 11 straights (yeah, I did it straight and seamed).

I'm not a Firefly fan (yet), but this was made for a Secret Santa exchange... this guy, who is a FANATIC for Joss Whedon, was definitely lucky he got me, as  I'm the only knitter in our group.  ;-)  It was my first hat.  Very fun!

You must tell us what his reaction is!

Hat went over perfectly, he squealed when he opened it and strutted around with it the whole night, though he said he would spare us the Hero of Canton song.  I couldn't even pay attention to what i was opening at the time because he was so excited and made such a ruckus.  :-)  I think it was a success.

Excellent! There is nothing better than when someone loves a gift you have crafted with your own hands in blood, sweat and tears! Smiley

hi!

i just joined, just found this place!  and the husband got me the firefly/serenity DVD set for xmas,
so i said, hey, why don't i knit a hat like jayne's?

i guess i should have known that it'd be a popular idea and found this place earlier, since i made mine up on the fly, from the pompom on down.  i'll think on it as a beta....
now to get the sewing macine fired up and make me a browncoat.

test....

I want a Browncoat!

Wash also had some awesome sweaters in the series. Ganseys with some minimal cabling, mostly. Anyone worked out patterns for those?
