Hey!  Lookit all those Browncoat knitters!  That's so cool!

I got a mention in the Charlotte Observer today for the Jayne hats.  I managed to work Firefly and Serenity in there.  Smiley

I confess I crossposted on fireflyfans.net and on browncoats.serenity movie.net in the exchange section - and on the newly created LJ channel, bigdamnknitters.  Smiley

I was just too proud.

My favorite call/e-mail resulting from this article was from a little old lady who clearly had never heard of Firefly or Serenity.  She just wanted something nice to knit for her grandkids, and the Jayne hat was it.

I swear, it was just like I was talking to Jayne's mom.  I dropped the price for her and am rewriting the pattern to accomodate little heads, she was so sweet.  Smiley

I do want to rewrite a version using Cotton Fleece to be nice and machine washable for the little tykes, it's just a matter of finding time!

Excellent!

Your hat pattern has also inspired another hat which I've knitted for my dad.  It's now the basis from which I'll be knitting all future hats.

Who DOESN'T need a hat with earflaps and a pom pom?!

LeSophie, your son is adorable!  My husband and I think he is absolutely cunning!  I went as Reaver-reaving-River for halloween, and my husband was supposed to go to the parties with me as Jayne, but he was feeling under the weather so I had to go alone.  Everyone thought I was a character from Xena.   Embarrassed

Emisanboo, congrats on the article and Jayne-ing.  Neat!

I wish I had enough posts to participate in the Firefly swap.  I think that's a lot of posts to make up in two days.  Hmmmm....do you think anyone would notice if I put on a sudden burst of posting speed?   Roll Eyes

Pieces,

Joanne

Oh I am going in the Firefly swap and its gonna be golden!
You guys inspired me so much, look what I went and done... Grin

All I can do is tell as many people as I can get to listen, that they HAVE to watch Firefly. And as soon as the Serenity DVD comes out over here some friends and I are going to try to introduce a whole bunch more people by having a Serenity/Firefly party!

Exceptionally cunning!  Great job, geek pride, I can tell you have the attitude to carry off such a special hat.  Smiley
