Jayne Cobb Hat! (with pattern)

Yay! This is my first non-scarf project, and I couldn't be more pleased with the way it came out. I wasn't able to find any chunky wool in the right colours, so it's knit with two strands of worsted together, which turned out fine.

Using Eminsanboo's pattern, it worked out to 64 CO stitches for mine, 76 CO stitches for the boy's. Easy and fun. Now, only one week until the midnight screening, huzzah!

Thanks guys! I have to say, this project is the first time that knitting actually clicked for me. You know, little things like knit the knits and purl the purls. It just made sense, finally. I did have heaps of help from my Stitch 'n Bitch book, and am hoping to make the felted tote from there next.

How's it sit?

I feel quite cunning!

(The colors aren't quite this bright in real life, especially the yellow, which is more of a natural golden color. But you get the idea.  I did mine based on Emisanboo's pattern in Nashua Creative Focus Worsted (used double) in Goldenrod, Pumpkin, and Copper.)

I now have to knit 4 more before Friday, since everyone else wants one!

Shiny!  Yep, that's the curse of the Jayne hat - once everyone sees how cunning it looks, your work is never done.

I was extra pleased with the little flippy bits on the ends. 

Oh, and this 'un was 72 CO since I got 3.5-ish sts to the inch on US 10.75. The Creative Focus comes in chunky, but of course we only got in 2 of the 3 colors in the chunky!

I made the orange stripe 1/2" narrower on this one, not that you can tell from the pictures...

I think I'm going to slim down the earflaps on the next one.
I have a big head and these are some Big Damn Earflaps.

Heh.  If you slim down the earflaps, I'd recommend also possibly putting them a little further back on the head.  That's really the "correct" positioning - I just figured Ma Cobb wouldn't bother with it, she'd just do 'em evenly spaced because there's less thinking involved.

By the way, if anybody hasn't made theirs yet, I'm doing kits, and could still get a package with pattern, pompom, and enough yarn to make a 23" hat in the mail tomorrow.  Priority shipping, so if you're a quick knitter there's still a chance to get it done in time for the premiere.
