I have a fruity oaty bar tote bag and I've had two people stop me to say how cool that is.

I MUST see this Fruity Oaty Bar tote bag.  Is it DIY, or purchased?  BTW, I like your version.  Double stranding, eh - must try that.

I wish I could take credit for the tote, but I purchased it from cafe press.  Here's the link: http://www.cafepress.com/buy/fruity+oaty+bar/-/pv_design_prod/p_1423341.39296045/pNo_39296045/id_9848859/fpt_/opt_/c_360/pg_1  Mine is actually only one-sided, but I like this one with the "not mandatory" printed on the back.  Very cool!

I just bought some standard orange wool and double stranded it

I used your idea and it worked really well.  A bonus is that it made the cheap acrylic I used a little smoother, because double-stranding makes a nice, thick fabric.

This photo shows the colours better.

This pic is less blurry.

If I were to make another one (I'm leaning toward no - I detest making pom-pons), I would decrease the top by k2tog'ing (like in Heather's pattern), instead of the nice, even decreases I used.  k2tog'ing creates the big wrinkles and nice little puff at the top of the hat, whereas decreasing evenly makes the hat more fitted, and we all know that's not how the Jayne hat looks!

P.S.  I added these pics to the Flickr group, here.

That looks great!  And being able to use a cheaper acrylic yarn makes these hats more viable for gifts.  Bravo!

Yeah, I thought about using the cheap stuff, but I couldn't find any in the right color, so I ended up going with Lopi. And peps, awesome bag. I might just have to go get myself one now.

Question:  Would there be support for me moving this thread to the knitalong board?  It would surely seem to qualify, by common law anyway.  (It's like a common law marriage.  If a post lives with a certain number of other posts for a certain amount of time, they become knitalonged...)

I dunno, I'm a little leery - people seem to be finding it pretty well where it is.  Is it an administrative requirement?

UNIFICATION IS FOR THE WEAK.

Er, I mean... hi!

Holycrap I love that I created this thread and now it's so huge and full of Browncoats. I brag this thread to all of my friends. "Look what I did", I say. Although the force is strong with us, so I'm sure someone else would have started it up had I not! You are all awesome and there are so many awesome hats and awesome awesome.

I know I've been neglecting this thread something awful. I wanted to let you all know that my edition of the Jayne Cobb Hat, which has changed massively since my first post on page 1, is now available on my blog! Go check it out. Here's what my latest incarnation, the pattern hat, looks like:

More info about the hat's journey through its changes and such on the blog. Cheesy

Keep it up, Browncoats. You guys are making us all proud!

What I like most about this edition is that it's CLEARLY from Firefly Season 5, after a lot more wear, gunsmoke, grease, and just Being Bad Guys have muted the original colors.
