I also had to use the dpns when it got down real small and it was my first time, definitely awkward but not impossible.

Ah. Good point. Yes I had to use Double pointed needles towards the top of the hat (where it gets smaller) too. It was my first circular needle knit! And my first DPN knit! I never would have tried it if I didn't love Jayne hats so much!

A lot of people have made this their first hat.  Jayne's downright inspirational.  Over the holidays, I had a gentleman in England order a kit so he could make one for his wife - and he'd never knitted anything at all before.  A man who'll learn to knit just so he can make his wife a Jayne hat?  That's a keeper, for sure.

That hat came out mighty fine! And you are too hard on your hubby! The cat looks like its considering having a bat at the dangling earflap strands...

Hye, I know its really really bumping a dead page, but i just recently finished watching the Firefly series on DVD and allthough I must say im upset Ididnt get to see it on tv, its the same and I loved it, anywho... I was wondering if any of you Cobb hat makers still make them? or are willing to make one? if so send me an email about it and we can discuss payment and all that.  thanks a bunch!

Hi, Angel!  It's not a dead thread - it started two years ago, but the last post is less than a month old.  Never fear, Browncoat pride is going strong!

I'm glad you mentioned the dpns.  I don't own any, and it would be bad if I got down to the top of the hat and suddenly realized my circ didn't cut it...

I don't own a circ either.  I may just pop into my LYS and ask for help.

My circ's were too big, and I wound up doing the whole thing on DPN's. It was a little tricky for the biggest hat I did (larger than the pattern), but I managed.

oooh, thats so nice! i recentley started watching it after a recommendation from a friend.  i just love those tv/movie inspired knits!
