Hellooooo,
I have finally become a little bored with my part dress pattern.  So I made another patchwork one with some umph (my grandmother use to always say that)...

Some one from cafemom wanted to see pictures of my process so I have some of that too.  Its not hard, just time consuming.

First I cut my squares 5x5 inches.  I cut up about 2 yards worth of two different colored fabrics for a 12 -18 month old dress.  It will leave me with good scraps that I can later use with my other patchwork scraps to make an even crazier patchwork dress!

Then I sew them into pairs with opposite colors touching (right sides together)

Then I when Im done with that I sew together the pairs, opposite colors touching, right sides together..

And I keep up with that until I get this! Well mine are normally square when I done, but I messed up a little so I have to wing it.

Then you fold your finished patchwork like you normally have for your regular fabric and pin on your pattern.

This is the cut out dress!

I made some ruffles, and I forgot to take pictures of that process
Sad I suck at directions for this...but I will try.

Its just making a gathering on little strips of fabric, super easy!
I used some of my left overs to cut stripes.  I then finished the edges with my serger (you can do it on your regular machine with a zigzag stitch).  The I sewed a long stitch down the middle leaving the end strings long, I then pulled them to make the fabric scrunch. When I was done I sewed them in layers on the bodice!  Does that make sense?  Sorry I hope it does!!!

Here is my finisheddress with ruffles and a little shrug jacket!!!

Its way to hot here (in the 100's) to make her model the jacket!
