This is one of many versions of the fir cone pattern. It's made from a lovely green silk yarn that I bought from Etsy. The shawl, as you can see, is HUGE, which I didn't realise until blocking. The pattern is worked top-down so the rows keep getting shorter, this is nice at the end when you feel you've been knitting on it forever  Wink

The pattern I used is in Swedish and can be found here, but if you google "fir cone shawl" I'm sure you will find a very similar pattern in English.

Your shawl is gorgeous!  I love the color, and I think there really is no such thing as a shawl that is too big.  It's just all the more to wrap yourself up in!

Beautiful work!

that's gorgeous.

I agree there is no such thing as a too big shawl - they're more dramatic like that...  Cheesy

How much yarn did this take?

cariad21, I bought 2 oz (about 55 g) and I still have a small ball left. But the yarn is super thin, I think the 2 oz skein contained over 600 yards!  Shocked
