i've seen lots of posts of men's shirt recons, and have always wanted to try one.  then my dad gave me one of his larg white button-down shirts because it had a couple of ink stains on it and a hole in the front.  i found Paperdaisies' http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=134335.0 wonderful tutorial and excitedly went to work.  i was so excited, that of course i forgot to take a before picture.  Undecided  just think of a large, white, short-sleeved men's button down.  after i fitted the shirt, added darts, and altered the sleeves, it looked kind of like a lab coat.  so i decided to try some embroidery, and i shortened the shirt by several inches.  i haven't done any embroidery in a long time, so i kind of used this as practice, to try out a few different stitches and get the hang of it again.  i also replaced the buttons with some pretty flower beads/buttons.

close-up of the tree.  i stole the tree idea from antigone's http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=92181.0 embroidered tree purse.  the hole that caused my dad to get rid of his shirt was where the hole in the tree is.  i patched it from the inside, then surrounded it with embroidery.

close-up of the birds on the back.  i just looked at various pictures of birds and doodled some out.  i like the blue one best.

that's all.  i'm happy with it.   Smiley  tell me what you think.

This is so cool! I really like how the flowers surround the pocket! I may do some embroidery on a button up shirt that I don't really like very much. You should make more!
